Farming is essentialWaste is a problem

We are researching recycling agricultural waste - including plastics - and turning them into delicious gourmet mushrooms.

Waste Not

At the intersection of agriculture, sustainability, and technology, we present a visionary concept aimed at transforming farming into a thriving, eco-conscious endeavor. Our mission is to establish a forward-thinking farm that utilizes commonly available recyclable materials, renewable energy, innovative technology, and environmentally conscious practices to yield healthy produce for our community while prioritizing humanity's future.

We must do more

Our focus on sustainability extends beyond buzzwords, reflecting our commitment to recycling and upcycling. We're pioneering ethical methods to recycle plastics and cardboard, while our groundbreaking mushroom farm presents an exciting opportunity. Our flagship product, microgreens, serves as an ideal starting point, showcasing our dedication to providing locally sourced, reliable, and nutritious options for the community.

Led by Logan Smith, a passionate advocate for agriculture and sustainability, our venture combines generations of agriculture knowledge with cutting-edge technology integration. Logan's experience with information technology uniquely positions him to harmonize traditional farming with the latest advancements.

Harnessing the power of geothermal, solar, and thermoelectric generators, we're leveraging proven, open-source designs to create efficient energy systems. These technologies won't just sustain our farm; they'll set the standard for ecologically responsible farming practices.

Enter: Mushrooms

Our goal is to enrich our community by producing wholesome food sustainably. We're capitalizing on the growing amount of material in our environment that must be discarded or recycled, while offering over a dozen local stores a fresh, locally sourced alternative. This not only drives our business but also champions the sustainability movement.

fast colonizers which are quite easy to grow" ~ Grocycle

In the Fungi Mutarium, one of the two fungi used to break down plastics is also a beginner-friendly gourmet mushroom. Why hasn't the next step been taken in this project? There are a few areas of research we still need to continue to determine the feasibility of this project.

Research Areas

There are many questions we need answers to before a commercial product can be shipped.

What kinds of plastic can the mushrooms consume?

Can the mushrooms create growth from plastics without negative effects to consumers?

Are microplastics going to cause an issue?

What kinds of processing do the plastics need to go through before they are available for the mushrooms?

Inevitably,
more questions will arise
as the project continues.
